The Place to Watch Live Sport this Year

There’s simply nowhere better to watch sport than in the pub – especially at The Queen’s Head in West Bergholt, which provides the perfect atmosphere for eating, drinking and being merry with your mates while you take in the action on screen.

Read on for some info about what’s showing at your favourite local pub in the coming months – and feel free to ask to chat to our team about what’ll be screened, as well as following us on social media for regular updates.

Do make sure you call us on 01206 240 394 to book your tables, especially for those must-see matches when we’re likely to be busier than normal.

Football

There’s rarely a time when the football isn’t on at The Queen’s Head! Throughout the coming months we’ll be screening action from the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Champions League (don’t forget to book your table for the final on 1st June) and more, including the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool vs Chelsea on Sunday 25th February, kicking off at 3pm.

Not forgetting, of course, the 2024 Euros this summer, kicking off on Friday 14th June – watch every single game with us and make sure to pop the all-important England matches (Sunday 16th, Thursday 20th and Tuesday 25th) in your calendar.

We’d always recommend booking a table in advance for big matches, and England games – especially if you’re planning to dine while you cheer on your team.

Rugby Six Nations

Rugby fans: wing your way to The Queen’s Head to catch all the Guinness Six Nations matches, kicking off 8pm on Friday 2nd February with France vs Ireland – with England facing Italy on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd, taking on Wales on Saturday 10th, Scotland on Saturday 24th, Ireland on Saturday 9th March and France on Saturday 16th March. Full fixtures here.

If cheering on the lads while you sip your Guinness gives you an appetite for some proper ‘scrum’my food (groan!), we’ll be serving our Spring menu, full of crowd-pleasing dishes, from 12 – 8:30pm.

Boxing

Upcoming boxing events already in the diary showing at The Queen’s Head include Anthony Joshua’s face off with Francis Ngannou, on Friday 8th March – promised to be ‘knockout chaos’! Booking is essential for big matches like these, so get in touch on 01206 240 394 to reserve your seats in the best pub atmosphere. Keep an eye out on social media for other boxing events we’re screening as they’re added to our roster. Ding, ding!

Horse Racing

If the ‘gee-gees’ are more your thing, you’re not left behind. March will see the return of the Cheltenham Festival, running between Tuesday 12th and Friday 15th, as the best horses, jockeys and trainers go head-to-head throughout four thrilling days of racing – a great lead up to St Patrick’s Day on Sunday 17th.

The Grand National 2024, of course, is also on our screens, running this year on Saturday 13th April at 5:15pm. Whether you’ll be having a cheeky flutter, or just living that unmistakable adrenaline rush, The Queen’s Head is the place to watch the action.

Darts

Darts is always popular at our pub, and the darts Premier League is already in full swing – and we’re screening all the tournaments right here at The Queen’s Head. This year currently sees teen sensation Luke Littler as the bookies’ favourite to take the win for 2024 but it’s all to play for between February and May. Keep up to date with the action, including results and fixtures, at www.pdc.tv – and get yourself booked in with us to eat and drink while you watch it all unfold on screen.

Cricket

Few sports say ‘summer vibes’ more than cricket – and so we’re looking forward to the English cricket season commencing on Friday 5th April, taking us all the way through a few months of warm weather (and jigs of Pimm’s), set to finish on Sunday 29th September.

As always, we’ll be supporting and sponsoring our local team, the West Bergholt Cricket Club, throughout the coming months, with their first match scheduled away against Dunmow 2nd on Saturday 20th April, and the first home match (at Manor Ground in the heart of the village) against Halstead CC on Saturday 27th April. Why not head along and cheer them on before heading along to The Queen’s Head for a pint or two?

Tennis

Summer may be a little way off but we’re already looking forward to Wimbledon 2024, which is back between Monday 1st-Sunday 14th July. Oh, we can already taste the strawberries and cream! We may not be Henman Hill (or Murray Mound!) but we’ve got everything needed to SERVE up an ACE afternoon while you chill out in an awesome atmosphere. Drinks – we’ve got singles and doubles. Food – net a super deal on our delicious dishes. What’s not to LOVE?
