Phew – we can hardly believe we’ve already reached September… doesn’t it feel like summer flew by? But here at The Queen’s Head, West Bergholt, we welcome a new season (even if it means cooler weather is coming) because that means it’s time to once again revamp our menu.
Yes, we’ve updated our kitchen’s offering once again with delicious delights for one and all to enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner at our friendly, welcoming local pub over the coming months. Start the Day Right…
Breakfast is often better when someone else is cooking (and taking care of the washing up)… and if you’re after a tasty, satisfying cooked brekkie, we’ve got the goods. We’re serving all your favourites every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 12pm at The Queen’s Head.
Egg fan? We’ve got Benedict, Royale, poached, fried, scrambled and omelettes… Want some bacon and sausage? Get it in a baguette, sandwich, burger, or a Full English. Sweet tooth? Boom – Belgian waffle with crispy bacon and maple syrup, or with berries and cream. Whether you’re keeping it simple with beans on toast, or going all out with our special breakfast baguette, do it in style, with us. Veggie, vegan and junior options are also available; just chat to your server.

Our popular weekly Cake and Coffee Morning runs every Wednesday alongside breakfast, so if you fancy indulging in something sweet or flaky, make sure to book a table or get there early for a takeaway.
Come Get your Lunch On…
The potential held by lunch is often overlooked, but not at The Queen’s Head, where midday dining always feels like a real treat.
Choose from our tasty selection of flatbreads, served with mini hash brown, side salad and coleslaw – will yours be steak, halloumi, or chicken? If you fancy a baguette or doorstep sandwich, you can bag a classic Tuna Melt or All Day Breakfast or something a bit different in the form of our Scampi Po’Boy or Philly Steak baguettes. Fresh, crisp salads and comforting jacket potatoes are also available, with a wide selection of toppings and fillings. Not to mention Sharing Plates if you’re feeling social – AND let’s of course not forget that our legendary Traditional Sunday Roasts are served from 12pm on Sundays.
The lunch menu is served Tuesday – Saturday from 12 – 6pm, but if you’re particularly hungry (or joining us on a Sunday), you can order from our main menu from 12pm too (read on for what’s new).
Join us on a Friday to make the most of our delicious Friday Lunch Offer – select anything from the lunch menu for just £6 when you dine between 12 – 2:30pm.
First Things First…
While we’ve kept a few of our regulars’ faves on the starter menu – like Homemade Soup of the Day, Duck or Veggie Springs Rolls, Garlic Mushrooms, Battered Prawns and Southern Fried Chicken Goujons – we’ve got some exciting new dishes for you to try out, too.
Dig in to moreish Honey & Garlic Fillet Steak Bites, zingy Homemade Thai Fishcakes with sweet chilli sauce, crispy Breaded Brie or Camembert Bites, classic Brussels Pâté, and the awesome York Egg – imagine a classic Scotch egg, wrapped in bacon instead of breadcrumbs… absolutely delicious.
The Main Event
Let’s face it, most of us are here for the mains, right?
New dishes for Autumn/Winter include… simple-but-satisfying Sausage, Chips & Beans (our Procter’s sausages are bangin’ bangers), hearty Homemade Steak & Guinness Pie with mash, green beans and gravy, fragrant King Prawn Tagliatelle with garlic bread, tasty Pan Fried Seabass with pea and potato salad and a burnt lemon butter sauce, warming Tandoori Chicken Burger… and the new season sees the return of our very popular Vegan Mediterranean Tart, with sweet potato fries and salad on the side.
Like the starters, we’ve retained some of the most popular staples from summer, such as The Queen’s Head Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Scampi with Chunky Chips & Peas, Homemade Chilli with Rice and Nachos, and Traditional Cod & Chips.
Remember that many of our dishes can be made smaller for younger diners who may be joining us – so just chat to our serving team about what they might like, and we’’ do our best to accommodate.
Bag our fantastic Tuesday and Thursday offer on mains; from 5 – 8:30pm on either day, you can enjoy any two of our delicious main meals for just £20. Perfect for date (or mate) night, and a great excuse to say ‘yes’ to dessert or that second drink.
To Finish the Meal…
It’s all change on our seasonal desserts – very exciting news for those who love a pud.
To warm the cockles, we’re offering comforting classics like Homemade Rice Pudding with strawberry jam, Sticky Ginger Cake with rum butterscotch sauce, and Pear Frangipane Tart served with cream. Chocolate lovers can indulge in our Brookie – a epic warm chocolate brownie-topped cookie slice – or Homemade Chocolate Torte, both served with ice cream. If you fancy a touch of nostalgia, you’re going to love our Angel Delight Cheesecake (ask for the flavour of the week!) and a simple bowl of ice cream (is it going to be 1, 2 or 3 scoops?)
Of course, if you’re so inclined, you can opt for our Trio of Cheeses with crackers, grapes and chutney – it need not be all about the sugar hit at the end of your meal. Vegan desserts options are also available, so just let us know any requirements you have when you chat to your server on the day.
